It wasn't quite swine flu but some nasty bug has put me out of commission for ten days in total... So, I am well and truly behind with my training. Up until then, things went well - physio seems to be helping my knee and spinning was getting me into shape (quickly).
Today is the first day back in the gym!

Training is going well-ish! Lots of cardio and not so much running (due to knee). The 18 week countdown starts today!
Doctors for Nepal had a very successful fundraising event - to read about it, go to http://doctorsfornepal.blogspot.com/2010/12/target-exploded-for-dfns-christmas.html.

Spinning...
I'm spinning around
Move out of my way
I know you're feelin' me 'cuz you like
it like this
Got to love a bit of Kylie Minogue. Anyway. So during spinning class yesterday (which I did in addition to a 3 mile run), I was pondering when the wheel first entered Nepal. A "wheel Nepal" Google search unfortunately yielded nothing.
Needless to say, I was close to having a cardiac arrest by the end of training yesterday.
I have also realised that the marathon is not so conveniently scheduled for two weeks into the trial of my big case. O.H. D.E.A.R.

First post...
Welcome to my Brighton Marathon 2011 training blog! Over the next 139 days, I will blog about my training progress and will, no doubt, be going through some good times as well as bad (and probably, terrible). I'm determined to finish the marathon although I have not yet any clue as to what I would like my time to be.
As of Day 1, my knee is in moderate pain and still being treated by a physio! Going for an easy run in a while, will update more tomorrow.
In the meantime, please visit my JustGiving site at www.justgiving.com/nina-haefele and of course the Doctors for Nepal website at http://www.doctorsfornepal.org/! I am hoping to fundraise just over £4,000 (but hopefully much more!).
